Principal Bassoon, Minnesota Orchestra
Fei Xie is principal bassoon of the Minnesota Orchestra. Past positions include principal bassoon with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, member of the Houston Grand Opera Orchestra, and principal bassoon with the Mansfield Symphony in Ohio. Mr. Xie has performed as guest principal bassoonist with the Houston Symphony and the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, among others.
He has performed as soloist with Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and has performed at various summer festivals, including the Sun Valley Summer Symphony, Tanglewood, National Repertory Orchestra, Music Academy of the West, and Compos do Jordäo in Brazil, where he was a member of the faculty. He has given master classes throughout the U.S., as well as in China and Brazil.
A native of China, Mr. Xie is the son of renowned Peking Opera musicians. He has studied with George Sakakeeny and Benjamin Kamins, and holds a Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory and a Master of Music from Rice University.
