The Experience

July 31 - August 4, 2017
For elementary through high school students.
Classical instruction in strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, piano and voice for beginners to advanced students.

Have fun. Make music. Meet other musicians just like you. Work with great teachers from one of the country’s premier festival orchestras. Perform in exciting venues. Experience the splendor of summer in Sun Valley, Idaho. Classical music comes to life for everyone.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: May 1, 2017.

As the foundation of The Institute, the Experience is a diverse week long summer music camp embracing a broad spectrum of students from early beginners to advanced students. Study is available at all levels and in most symphonic musical disciplines as well as piano and voice. Students are placed in ensembles based on their age, instrument and ability.

For most students, no audition is required though applications include a request for recommendations from classroom or private music teachers for new students. All upper-level voice students are requested to send a work sample for placement in the Chamber Singers and to guide the selection of material. Students in all disciplines who wish to be considered for solos and featured placement in advanced large ensembles may also wish to submit a work sample. Click here for instructions.

While students with no previous experience may enter the beginning and intermediate vocal programs, all instrumental programs including piano are designed for students with some prior training.

Performances are an integral part of The Experience. Culminating concerts take place on Friday in the Sun Valley Pavilion. Other small ensemble and solo recitals are scheduled during the week.
