Core Program

Private lessons with an outstanding faculty and so much more

The School of Music Core Program is for intermediate and advanced string, piano and voice students who show a high aptitude for music learning and performance. Private instruction is paired with diverse group classes to create a full music education experience. The School creates a supportive environment where students can study with peers who share their passion for music.

Individualized Instruction

Individualized instruction is an integral part of the School of Music. Students in the Core Program take weekly private lessons from School of Music faculty. Lesson times are determined by the instructor and are 30, 45 or 60 minutes in length depending on the student’s ability level and individual needs. Semi-private and group lessons are sometimes used to fit the student’s needs. Financial aid is available.

Group Classes

Group classes are part of the comprehensive music education experience for Core Program students and are a required part of the curriculum. Classes vary by discipline and meet weekly at Wood River High School and the Community Campus in Hailey. The schedule varies based on teacher and student availability. Curriculum includes:

  • small and large ensemble rehearsals
  • group technique
  • recitals
  • music history
  • music theory
  • master classes
