Diana Krall to Perform in Sun Valley July 30
SUN VALLEY, Idaho – Grammy-Award-winning jazz-crossover artist Diana Krall will perform at the 2017 Sun Valley Summer Symphony Gala concert. Personified by genre-transcending artistry, Krall’s cool, sensual voice and piano style will be on display in Sun Valley on Sunday, July 30.
The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the R.E. Holding Sun Valley Pavilion, 300 Dollar Rd., Sun Valley. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. for pavilion and lawn seating.
The performance is part of a world tour in support of Krall’s highly anticipated new album, “Turn Up The Quiet,” which celebrates jazz and the Great American Songbook and is a reunion with Grammy-Award-winning producer Tommy LiPuma.
Touted as one of the most-acclaimed artists of our time, Krall’s unique style has garnered the singer, songwriter and producer numerous accolades, including five Grammy Awards and eight Juno Awards. She’s the only jazz singer to have eight albums debut at the top of billboard-jazz charts.
“Musically sophisticated,” says Jenny Krueger, symphony executive director, of Krall’s style. “Diana Krall has been on our short list for several years. We are excited to bring her jazzy, generation-defying talent and song list to our community. It is important to members of the Sun Valley Summer Symphony that we showcase not only the symphony but also high-caliber artists that not only attract new potential symphony attendees but also satisfy our long-time listeners.”
Krall’s classical-music roots, instrumental prowess and knack for composition mirror the overall focus of the symphony’s 2017 season, which will showcase guest artists such as Lang Lang and Angela Meade and debut two new works commissioned by the Sun Valley Summer Symphony.
Born in Canada, Krall began taking classical-piano lessons at the age of 4. She was introduced to jazz music by her grandparents and began performing live by the age of 15. Her 1993 debut album, “Stepping Out,” was soon followed by the 1996 breakthrough album, “All for You,” a tribute album to Nat King Cole. In whole, Krall has amassed nine gold, three platinum and seven multi-platinum-status albums and has performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and the White House.
Gala ticket prices range from $75 to $1,000. Tickets priced at $250, $500 and $1,000 include a pre-concert cocktail reception. $1,000-sponsor tickets also include personal-concierge services provided by the Sun Valley Summer Symphony and a post-concert dinner with an opportunity to meet Diana Krall.
Lawn tickets will be available for $75 each. For enhanced-performance experience, the event will also be broadcast live on the Pavilion’s 25-foot, LED screen.
