Join Music Director Alasdair Neale and Assistant Conductor Ankush Kumar Bahl as hosts and conductors for this season’s In Focus Series titled, “Made in America.” This series is a two-part survey of American classical music which showcases the melting pot of genres and styles we hear in American composition today. Part One of “Made in America” is this summer’s In Focus Series.  Part Two continues in 2015.

Tonight we take a journey into minimalism as represented through American classical music.  With the three giants of minimalism on this program, Phillip Glass, Steve Reich and John Adams, you are assured to leave this concert with a true appreciation for this compositional technique.  As a special treat, you will be the first to hear our very own Joe Tompkins’ piece “4 Mbiras” which premieres tonight.

The concert starts at 6:00 PM for a duration of about 90 minutes. You are encouraged to sit inside the Sun Valley Pavilion to best experience how these concerts bring the music “into focus!”

Note – the Big Screen on the lawn does not display In Focus concerts.
