2018 Gala Brings One of the Country’s Most Accomplished Instrumentalists to Sun Valley
The Sun Valley Summer Symphony is pleased to announce Grammy-Award-winning artist Chris Botti will perform for the 2018 Gala Concert. Botti’s creative expression has firm roots in jazz and expands beyond the limits of any single genre. His virtuosity will be on display in the Sun Valley Pavilion on Monday, August 6, as he joins the Sun Valley Summer Symphony on stage.
Since the release of his critically acclaimed album “When I Fall In Love” in 2004, Botti has become the best-selling instrumental jazz artist in the world. He has released four number one jazz albums, as well as multiple Gold and Platinum albums, and has been nominated for five Grammy Awards. His latest album, “Impressions,” won the 2013 Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album. His broadly encompassing style and versatility and his warm stage presence have captivated audiences of all categories.
“Chris Botti has a trumpet sound that suggests the softer side of luminosity, the realm of sunsets and half-moons and low-wattage incandescence,” The New York Times describes of Botti’s performances. “He’s adept at exuding human warmth on a sweeping scale.
Revered across the globe, Botti performs worldwide and has sold more than four million albums. His 2018 Sun Valley performance occurs during the artist’s current world tour, which includes performances in Melbourne, Hong Kong and Seoul. Thoroughly established as one of the premier innovative figures of the contemporary music world, Botti has recorded and performed with the best in music, including Sting, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett, Josh Groban and Yo-Yo Ma among others. He has performed with some of the finest orchestras and in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, like Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House and the Real Teatro di San Carlo in Italy.
